The Bluejean and Teacup Cozy Mysteries
For the Month of June
Dad’s Blueberry Pie
A Cozy Mystery About Kindness, Friendship, and Life
The rain had finally stopped sometime during the night.
By morning, soft clouds drifted across the June sky above Willow Creek, leaving the little town wrapped in cool air and the scent of lilacs.
Along Main Street, shopkeepers swept their porches while neighbors waved from sidewalk to sidewalk.
And at the corner of Maple and Third sat Bluejean Corner.
The little tea shop was easy to recognize.
Flower boxes rested beneath the windows.
Wind chimes tinkled gently near the porch. A faded blue bench sat beneath the climbing roses, and hanging beside the front door was the small wooden sign everyone in town loved:
Bluejean Corner — Where stories, friendship, and kindness are always served warm.
Inside, the lights glowed softly against cream-colored walls and shelves filled with teacups collected over many years.
Some were elegant. Some chipped. Some plain white. And some had stories attached to them.
Sadie Blue believed every teacup held a memory.
She also believed the same thing about pie.
Especially Dad’s blueberry pie.
She stood in the kitchen tying on her apron while the old radio played softly nearby. The berries simmered gently on the stove, filling the tea room with the sweet scent of blueberries, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Sadie smiled.
Her father had made the very same recipe for years.
He used to say:
“A good pie doesn’t fix every problem, but it sure makes people feel less alone.”
After he passed away, Sadie continued baking the pies at Bluejean Corner.
Not because the recipe was famous. Not because customers expected it.
But because every time she baked one, she remembered sitting at the kitchen table in her father’s old farmhouse while rain tapped against the windows and stories filled the room.
And somehow, the world always felt softer there.
That particular June morning was special.
Bluejean Corner was hosting its annual “Blueberry Pie & Memories Tea.”
Neighbors from all over Willow Creek would gather to share stories about loved ones, friendships, happy memories, and small moments that changed their lives.
Some people brought photographs. Some brought recipes. Some simply came to listen.
Sadie placed the finished pie on the windowsill to cool.
The golden crust sparkled lightly with sugar.
The blueberries bubbled gently beneath the lattice crust. And beside the pie sat her father’s old pie server wrapped carefully in a blue gingham napkin.
Just then, the bell above the front door jingled.
“Morning, Sadie!”
It was Hattie Lane.
Hattie had moved to Willow Creek only a few months earlier after losing her husband. At first, she hardly spoke to anyone.
But little by little, Bluejean Corner became her safe place.
Now she visited nearly every morning.
Sadie handed her a warm cup of chamomile tea.
“You’re early today,” Sadie said.
Hattie smiled softly.
“I thought you might need help setting up.”
Soon more friends arrived.
Lily brought fresh flowers for the tables. Ben carried in folding chairs from the church hall.
Old Mr. Dawson shuffled through the door with a basket of biscuits. And little Emma next door proudly delivered handwritten kindness notes she had made for the guests.
Bluejean Corner slowly filled with warmth and laughter.
But just as Sadie turned toward the windowsill—
She stopped.
The pie was gone.
Only the blue gingham napkin remained.
Sadie blinked.
“Well now…” she whispered.
Hattie looked up from arranging flowers.
“What’s wrong?”
Sadie pointed toward the empty windowsill.
“Dad’s blueberry pie.”
Everyone turned.
“It was right there.”
For a moment, the room fell silent.
Then little Emma gasped dramatically.
“A mystery!”
Sadie laughed despite herself.
“Well,” she said, placing her hands on her hips, “I suppose it is.”
The Search Begins
The search began immediately.
Not because anyone believed something terrible had happened.
But because Willow Creek enjoyed a good mystery—especially one involving pie.
Hattie examined the kitchen counter.
Ben checked behind the stove and announced, “No pie here.”
Emma looked suspiciously toward the garden.
“Could’ve been raccoons.”
Mr. Dawson didn’t eat entire pies on serving trays, so Lily frowned.
Emma took the mystery most seriously of all.
She borrowed one of Sadie’s notebooks and began writing down clues.
Clues
Missing blueberry pie
Blue gingham napkin
Left behind crumb
Tiny round stain
Back door
One missing pie server
Slight blueberry stain on the porch railing
Emma circled the last clue dramatically.
“Aha!”
Sadie smiled.
“You make a fine detective.”
Together they followed the tiny blueberry stain across the porch.
It led down the garden path.
Then toward the old willow tree.
And near the stone bench of Bluejean Corner.
There sat the pie.
Everyone stopped.
Beside it was Mrs. Carter.
She looked startled.
Sadie stared at her missing blueberry pie.
Mrs. Carter smiled sheepishly.
“The youngest held a plate with a single slice of pie.”
